The iWinch is a new series of innovative, fully electric and automated wireline units
Ready to Improve?
Stimline manufactures electrically driven and automated wireline winches, which can be skid mounted or truck based.
For logging service companies, we can connect to downhole sensors from many suppliers and even run the winch based on those sensor values.
- A range of iWinch units from small wire, fully electric to automated
- Monitoring systems to allow remote and autonomous operation.
- If you still need legacy solutions, Stimline has been delivering conventional wireline equipment for many years.

It is designed to be a vital part of our Intelligent Conveyance technology.
The iWinch system can be packaged in different ways, optimized for cased hole, open hole or combination jobs.
North Sea Version
Designed to exceed all NORSOK requirements in terms of capacity and performance, the iWinch is the North Sea wireline system of tomorrow. Being extremely compact and lightweight it fits all North Sea constricted platform spaces, is easily mobilized and rigged up and made ready for operation.
The iWinch may either be connected to a separate Power Unit skid consisting of control, electrical and cooling systems or everything may be combined on a single skid to reduce connections and rigging time. Normal North Sea set-up will be one dual drum iWinch Skid and one Add-On Skid for third party drums.
Four different drums cover everything from 0.092 slick to 7/32” braided.
The iWinch system is extremely flexible and, depending on options, be operated from multiple locations:
- From an Operator Cabin, seated in an XOS Operator Station
- From a desk-based XOS Operator Station located in an “ice-box” or Platform office
- Integrated with the rig’s Drilling Control System, operated from the Driller’s Chair
- From a small wireless rigging and operation panel
- Remotely from an X-Wall running mixed reality visualization, with the feeling of “being there”
- Or autonomously based on pre-defined run planning taking into account best practices, optimization and reactions to events based on historical learning
iWinch skids are built into rugged offshore containers certified to DnV 2.7-X and conforms to the latest revisions of NORSOK, DnV, CE, ATEX.
International Version
The iWinch Skid System for international markets is packaged in an 6.5ft wide container. This is ideal for compact offshore wireline systems, for onshore wireline systems that are hauled to site on a flatbed trailer or similar.
The system is divided in a winch area and an operator area divided by in internal window. The winch area can be fitted with a single or a dual drum winch system. The operator cabin is normally fitted with an XOS operator station, control system, electrical system and other utilities under the floor.
All advanced features available for the North Sea version can be selected for the International version.

WSX 501 Modular Wireline System
Browse images
Features of WSX 501 Modular Wireline System
The WSX 501MWS (Modular Wireline System) is designed to offer safe and efficient conveyance of slick, braided and electric wireline in an offshore environment. It meets all NORSOK technical, ergonomic, operational and safety requirements.
WSX 501MWS consists of the following main skids:
- Operator Cabin Skid, designed to meet the most stringent ergonomic requirements. Operation of the wireline system is from the XOS operator station offering the most modern and automated user interface.
- Power Unit Skid includes the VFD, control system and rig power interface enclosures. Cables for skid connections and supply power are coiled on the Power Unit Skid.
- Modular Winch Skid utilizes a powerful electrical motor to drive drum(s) mounted on either the Single Drum Frame or the Double Drum Frame. Both Frames are skiddable modules that can accommodate different types of drums and wireline cables. The Frames are hydraulically skidded in and out of the Modular Winch Skid for drum change (or service / maintenance). The Modular Winch Skid comes complete with level wind, measuring heads and other components. Optional winch slewing provides improved spooling.
- The Single Drum Frame accepts drums and cables of various sizes and makes. The Single Drum Frame are very flexible in design, and will be able to run 1/2″ Tuffline to maximum performance.
- On the Double Drum Frame cables for slickline and braided services can be combined in several ways. All popular cable sizes can be used. With our optional lower split drum, the Double Drum Frame holds 10,000 m of each 0.160″ and 7/32″ on lower drum with 5/16″ Dyform on upper drum.
An optional Transport Container is used to safely transport Single or Double Drum Frames (with drums and wireline cables) in a protected manner. It consists of a simple offshore container into which the Drum Frames are skidded from the Modular Winch Skid and vice versa.
All skids are built into rugged offshore containers certified to DnV 2.7-1.
Stimline delivers a variety of drums with reinforced flanges and core from magnetic or non-magnetic material.
The wireline system is fully automated with Stimline’s ASX Equipment Automation technology, implementing many automated functions and safety interlocks.
The WSX 501MWS wireline system conforms to the latest revisions of NORSOK, DnV, CE, ATEX.
The wireline system is prepared for exchange of data with the optional IDEX system, which enables remote monitoring and control, based on real time decision support from skilled professionals in the organization, integration of intelligent prediction software, pre-assessment of runs as well as many other functions. It is designed to be a vital part of Stimline’s Intelligent Conveyance technology.

Our Digital Strategy is critical to improved efficiency in the Intervention & Stimulation Alliance says Stian Ø. Jørgensen, VP D&W – Operations Intervention Alliance. Accurate planning, collaborative operations and full transparency in decision making are all expected within the Alliance. Having access to all of the latest data, information and analyses at all times, from wherever you are, is required to make this a reality. IDEX has already shown us how we can benefit from a truly collaborative platform.

“The initial application, IDEX Designer, had great features and was certainly easy to use. Throughout the initial launch phase, we collaborated with Stimline to test that the hydraulic and force models generated by Designer were verified by field-data so that our clients were confident in the technology”.
“Having the ability to use the same platform, for various functions during a project with all our information in one place, reduces the risk of errors associated with duplicating data,”
“The integration of IDEX into our programming certainly makes our lives a lot easier.”

Technical manager coiled tubing services
Step Energy Services
“IDEX proved to be of great value when having to interpret large amounts of operational data, and rationalize these to decide on further action”
“IDEX has an intuitive way of presenting the data, enabling a crossfunctional team to make fast, fact-based decisions.”
Quotes from Aker BP Offshore Supervisor
IDEX was built as a platform that could be adapted to suit specific workflows. With the ability to link to existing datastores to access the latest well information and with customer specific best practices in easy to use job templates, it is designed to promote end-to-end planning, operations and analysis of all intervention jobs
